Carlsbad Elite Athletics is a nonprofit youth sports organization dedicated to developing young athletes both on and off the field. Our mission is to instill core values such as teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship while fostering a passion for athletic excellence.
Through top-tier coaching, competitive opportunities, and a supportive community, we empower athletes to reach their full potential—not only in sports but in life. Whether on the field, court, or track, we are committed to shaping well-rounded individuals who excel in character, leadership, and performance.
James C. Wrede
President and Co-Founder, Carlsbad Elite Athletics
James is a passionate youth sports advocate, educator, and former athletic trainer with a deep commitment to strength and conditioning. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a Master of Science in Kinesiology from California State University, East Bay. Over the course of nearly a decade, James worked as a trainer specializing in athletic performance and has coached varsity football, basketball, tennis, and track.
In addition to his background in athletics, James holds master’s degrees in both Education and Applied School Leadership. As a high school educator, he has taught Biology, Physical Education, and Health. He also served as an athletic director, where he championed student development both in the classroom and on the field. He currently serves as a high school administrator, continuing to support student success through inclusive and engaging school leadership.
James co-founded Carlsbad Elite Athletics as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing athletic training and skill development opportunities for the youth of Carlsbad. The organization also works to support other academic and sports-based non-profits throughout the local community.
A proud Carlsbad resident and father of three, James remains deeply involved in youth sports through his children, who actively participate in a range of athletic programs across the city.

Coach Tabari Hines
Wide Receiver Specialist | NFL Alumni | Performance Coach
Tabari Hines is a former Division I standout wide receiver with experience at Wake Forest, University of Oregon. Known for his elite route running, football IQ, and explosive playmaking, Tabari went on to join the NFL, signing with multiple teams.
Now a passionate coach and mentor, Tabari specializes in wide receiver development, speed training, and overall athlete performance. He brings his on-field experience and deep understanding of the game to every session, helping young athletes build confidence, master technique, and prepare for the next level.
